ABOUT US

Guiding and helping people with ADHD lead their best lives.

I am pleased to return to working with clients after spending many years as the Clinical Director and Founder of The Chesapeake Center, a large ADHD specialty clinic. My deepest satisfaction comes from getting to know my clients and working with them to create meaningful change in their lives.

In the late 1970s, I started specializing in treating kids with ADHD and their families to provide support and accommodation for children with ADHD.

Since then, my interest has expanded to focus on:

WHAT A I BELIEVE

ADHD Brains Are Complex And Highly Varied And Exist Along A Spectrum

Our brains are as unique as our faces. Our current view of ADHD doesn’t address that complexity or the tremendous potential of many ADHD brains when placed in the right environment. The “medical model” view of ADHD has never explored positive facets of the ADHD brain. We focus on procrastination and avoidance, but not on the drive, energy and creativity present in so many with ADHD. We focus on problematic hyperactivity but not on the incredible energy and athleticism present in so many with ADHD. I believe that many of the challenges of ADHD are the result of a mismatch between the person with ADHD and the environment in which they are placed in. Successful treatment of ADHD needs to focus on helping each person to find or create an environment in which they can thrive as well as building patterns and self-management skills. Helping people with ADHD find connection, engagement and support is equally important as helping them to become more focused and organized
